LA County DPW utilizes their online EPICLA and BSOP platforms to review your drawings to ensure compliance with all code and life safety requirements. The process typically follows these steps:

• Step 1: Determine your appropriate AHJ utilizing their online Service Locator (1 day)

• Step 2: Submit your application and corresponding documents through the County’s EPICLA (unincorporated areas) or BSOP (contract cities) for screening and completeness, and pay corresponding fees. (3-5 working days)

• Step 3A: Coordinate the plan review process with your assigned plan check engineer and through the online permitting system. (4-6 months)

• Step 3B: Submit and coordinate the plan review processes with other agencies (Fire, Sanitation, etc.) as instructed by your Agency Referral Sheet. (3-6 months)

• Step 4: Submit your agency approvals and final plans for final processing once all corrections and comments have been addressed. (5-10 working days)

• Step 5: Have your permit issued by your licensed professional or as owner-builder and move forward with your work!
